President William Henrich: Leaving a Legacy of Support for Military Health
On March 14, 2024, Dr. William Henrich, the President of UT Health San Antonio, passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. The Military Health Institute (MHI) team was honored to work closely with President Henrich over the past 10 years. He was always a staunch supporter of our military, veterans, and their families; in fact, he led the charge of attaining initial funding for the Military Health Institute in 2014.
Dr. Henrich believed firmly in the advancement of military health research and clinical care. Under his leadership, many initiatives were established at UT Health San Antonio. Most recently, he championed the creation of the Human Optimization Partnership (HOP) and the Trauma Research and Combat Casualty Care Collaborative (TRC4). Both initiatives will impact the health and wellness of our military, veterans, and their families for a long time to come. MHI is proud to have been a small part of Dr. Henrich’s great legacy, and we will continue to move forward, knowing he is watching his team continue to bring his great work to fruition.
